Objective
By the end of the session participants will:
- have defined the meaning of ‘mentor’ and the difference between mentoring & befriending
- have explored the role of mentor
- have identified the client’s needs and the expected outcomes from mentoring
- have considered ways of starting & maintaining the relationship and setting boundaries
- have developed strategies for dealing with any difficulties
- have explored goal setting & action planning techniques
Once complete the volunteer meets with the co-ordinator to go through their responses and deal with any questions or concerns. The volunteer then has their own personal resource that they can add to and refer back to whenever necessary.
