Overview

This training pack aims to equip participants with the knowledge and strategies to effectively engage young people as volunteers within their organizations.

The objectives include defining ways to utilize young volunteers, recognizing barriers to youth volunteering, discussing difficulties faced by young volunteers, identifying ways to reduce barriers, considering recruitment and involvement strategies, and exploring good practice issues.

By achieving these objectives, participants will be better prepared to create and manage successful youth volunteering programs.

Objective

By the end of the session participants will:

- have defined ways in which organisations can use young people as volunteers
- have discussed the difficulties a young volunteer would face in various roles
- have recognised the barriers to youth volunteering
- have identified how an organisation could reduce the barriers and difficulties faced by young volunteers
- have considered appropriate ways to aid the recruitment and continued involvement of young people as volunteers
- have explored good practice issues that need to be in place for youth volunteering
